TIKTIK: The Aswang Chronicles’ Bloody Teaser Unleashed!

Much has been said about our film industry’s sluggish pace in development. But this year, I could say that we’re starting to escape from the sticky webs of Hyper-commercialism. After a very long time, a film enthusiast’s dream of reviving the proud Philippine Cinema may finally come true with the sudden rise of movie production in the Philippines this year – especially in the independent scene.

This year, Philippines will have Four Big National Film Festivals. We have the recently concluded Sineng Pambansa, the much awaited Cinemalaya 2012 coming this month (July 2012), CinemaOne Originals in November and before the year ends we have the highly anticipated Metro Manila Film Festival. There are also small region-based Film Festivals which will make 2012 become a climatic year for movie productions in the country.

The mainstream industry also promises to offer worthwhile movies. Although they’re still not ready to wholly come out of the formula. It’s good that they’ve branched out with independent film divisions to prove they’ve still got some creative juices (Star Cinema’s Skylight Pictures, from the son of Regal Matriarch “Mother” Lily Monteverde comes Dondon Monteverde’s Reality Entertainments and Revolver Studios).

And just when you thought mainstream movies that challenges Hollywood stopped after the First Full-length 3D Animated Film “RPG Metanoia” in 2010, this year we have Director Erik Matti’s latest offering, Philippines’ First All-Green Screen movie entitled “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles“.

Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles is starring Dingdong Dantes, Lovi Poe, Joey Marquez, Janice De Belen, Ramon Bautista, Roi Vinzon, LJ Reyes, Mike Gayoso, and Rina Reyes. Will hit theaters October 2012.
